Certified Professional Yacht Brokers Award W Craig Nann With Vincent J. Petrella Chairman’s Award

Craig Nann

(Washington, DC) On December 5, 2022, at the Brokers Summit in Ft. Lauderdale, the Certified Professional Yacht Broker (CPYB) program presented the 2022 Vincent J. Petrella Chairman’s Award to W Craig Nann—a CPYB and yacht broker for One Water Yacht Group in Destin, Florida.

To be considered, individuals must be a CPYB in good standing; actively engaged in boating and sailing activities on a local, regional and/or national level; exemplify professionalism, ethical behavior, and business practices that are the trademark of the CPYB certification; and actively promote the CPYB program as a way for industry professionals to demonstrate their knowledge and professionalism.

Craig has been an active CPYB since 2011. He sailed for the University of Rhode Island and was a team Captain. In 1997, he started his brokerage career with Eastern Yacht Sales in RI and eventually was promoted to their Brokerage Manager in West Palm Beach & Miami, FL. He moved back to RI and settled in Newport in 2003 where he was highly active on the local sailboat racing scene. From 2010 to 2019, Craig served as Vice President at NorthStar Yacht Sales. Craig also volunteers his time as a member of the Board of Director’s of YBAA and is currently the Membership Committee Chairman. He is also a member of IYBA. Craig has been a long-time member of the New York Yacht Club and the Storm Trysail Club.

In 2019 he moved to SkipperBud’s where he encouraged and facilitated the certification of 20+ yacht brokers during his time there. Since 2020, Craig has been a full-time yacht broker for Legendary Marine & One Water Yacht Group in Destin, FL.

Craig is the first non-principle to be recognized for the CPYB Chairman’s award. He has worked diligently to increase awareness and growth of the CPYB program. One significant contribution was his encouragement and facilitation for numerous Skipper Bud’s and now One Water Marine brokers to become CPYB’s in 2022

“It is a truly a great honor to be recognized by the CAC and my peers. I have known this award’s namesake for many years and it is an even bigger honor to be mentioned in the same discussion as Vin Petrella who has done so much for our industry.” — W Craig Nann, CPYB.

About CPYB:

In January 2000, the Yacht Brokers Association of America (YBAA) held a series of focus groups at its annual conference to discuss the development of an industry-wide professional yacht broker certification program. In spring of that year, the YBAA Professional Development Committee kicked off the certification program design with the goals of raising the professional image of yacht brokers with the boating public and setting an appropriate standard for professional behavior.

Two years later, the Certified Professional Yacht Broker (CPYB) program was unveiled, and six prominent yacht broker associations joined YBAA as partner associations to promote and manage this program in collaborative alignment. Since then, hundreds of qualified yacht broker professionals have earned their designation. Learn more about the CPYB program at www.cpyb.net.
